Teenz Intensive
The Ladies League of Art and Culture is facing a crisis: one of their own may have broken the law. Set during the women's suffrage movement, YAT's Teen Intensive program explores what it means to be human when human rights are questioned. With a backdrop of visual art and history, the Ladies League must face changing times and decide what the world should be; cling to the way it has always been, or change?

Pep Rally- Fall Playground

January 26th
6-8pm
Athenaeum Theatre

Join us and our 150 student performers, costumers, videographers, directors and stage managers as they perform empowering previews of their productions for the public! All the pieces were created in a 4 month intensive theatre program called The Playground. The Playground offers classes in performance, directing, stage management, video development, and costuming. Each performance class devised an original piece of theatre under the model of self-empowerment theatre, YAT's own unique theatre style. Come to the free pep rally to watch performances, hear student testimonials, and listen to our Executive Artistic Director discuss our education goals and why self-empowerment theatre is changing Indianapolis.

RSVP to mandy@yatkids.org

The Other Side

Teenz Playground
It's another seemingly ordinary day for a typical high school class at Circle City High School when they realize their teacher has gone missing... along with every other adult in town. The group soon stumbles upon a parallel universe that is a mysterious reflection of their own world- a dark echo. After the teens cross into this dangerous place they soon find that an innocent wish can have dangerous consequences. There's a thin veil between what's real and imagined. Monsters lurk in the darkness and among them. And that's not even the most dangerous part...

Joan the Unknown

Kidz Playground
As a small French town struggles to recover from the aftermath of the Hundred Years' War, the hungry townspeople are met with a young stranger who claims to be Joan of Arc-- the voice-hearing hero they had all heard about not only saving the town of Orleans, but also dying at the hands of the English court. When this "Joan" claims to be able to help the town through their hunger, they must decide if she is who she says she is-- or if it matters at all so long as she is able to help. In this story of trust, hunger, and otherness, we all ask ourselves: What are the voices that we hear?

What does a popular board game, 1940s New Castle, Indiana, a round of putt-putt, and the alphabet have in common? We;ll give you a hint you'll love... perhaps it was a group of young actors, in the Athenaeum, with the candlestick.
